Merry Day After
December 26, 2009Merry Christmas and very belated Happy Hanukkah! Tim and I are in San Diego for the holiday. Yesterday we had breakfast at home, went to see “It’s Complicated” with my mom and dad and then came back to the house and started making dinner. There was a Charger game on so dinner had to wait until that was over, just like they did when baby Jesus arrived so many years ago. My sister came over and during the game we video chatted with Tim’s family, which is always a fun time. After dinner we opened gifts and had dessert. I’m pretty sure I’ve gained about 25 pounds over the last month. after Jan. 1 I am going on a celery and lemon wedge diet.
That’s about it for now. Working Monday through Wednesday next week. Boo for that. I need some time off!
Are you 29?
August 9, 2009Well, I am!
I had a most pleasant day today celebrating my birthday the best way… just me and my schmoo!
Jared fixed breakfast this morning. Scrambled eggs, potatoes o’brien and a side of strawberries & bananas. Yum!
We then ventured out to see Julie & Julia at the AMC Burbank 16. The movie was pretty good! Apparently it was over 2 hours long, but it didn’t seem like it. I personally got wrapped up in the storytelling and enjoyed it thoroughly. I ate too many SweeTarts, thought and my tongue is still stinging hours later!
We did a bit of shopping and then had dinner at P.F. Chang in Sherman Oaks. Always tasty. Especially the salt & pepper calamari.
Well, that’s about all I have to say about the day. I’m going to try and make the most out of the last year of my 20′s. Kind of a scary thought that I’ll be 30 next year, but also exciting. I’m looking forward to my 30′s, but in the mean time and I’m going to make the most out still being “in my 20′s!”
God Bless America, I Think
May 10, 2009Tim and I have been back in the states for about two weeks now. I miss Japan just about anytime I am in a pubic venue. Most notably the other day when I stopped by Disneyland on the way back from meeting my family in Irvine for lunch and a movie. (Sidenote: Don’t see Monsters vs. Aliens unless you like you’re animated fare with no emotional attachment to any characters.) It amazes me that people consciously throw trash on the ground. If someone can give me a logical explanation for doing this, please let me hear it because I cannot justify any reason for doing this.
Tangent: I really think that the grafitti situation in L.A. is getting rediculous. You can’t drive a mile without seeing a wall or mural destroyed with gang writing all over it. I feel like there is nothing being done at all about it. I just find this release here about a law that was just passed that “is designed to provide local governments the ability to recover criminal restitution from graffiti offenders … the bill would amend state law to allow government entities that remove and clean graffiti on private property to recoup their costs from the responsible graffiti vandals through criminal restitution.”
Um, that’s all well and good, but I’m thinking that this needs to be taken to a higher level. Do they always know who did the graffiti? Because if they do somehow, I am thinking a lot more needs to be done than a slap on the wrist and forcing them to buy a bucket of paint. I think officers should be allowed to shoot people caught doing graffiti in the foot. Right there. With spray can in hand. And then they have to clean up the graffiti and blood. They might think twice about doing it again.
Anyway… I look forward to getting back to clean, friendly Japan someday, but for now I’m thinking about next years vacation. Tim and I have been talking about a cruise… but might save that for 2011.
Almost Time…
April 11, 2009Today Tim and I went over to Tom and John’s place in Pasadena to have our final “Japan Planning” before the big trip! We leave one week from tomorrow. I don’ think it hit me until today that it’s coming so soon. I have 3 days of work next week and then I’m off to Philly on Thursday for my cousin’s wedding on Friday, then back to L.A. on Saturday and off to Japan on Sunday!
After our Japan Planning, Tim and I stopped at The Americana and Glendale Galleria for some shopping. I’m going to sound really old when I say this… but I really hate youth at the mall. Or maybe youth in general. There were so many at the mall today and they just walk slowly with their fake bling and stupid spikes through the earlobes. (That really makes me want to puke.)
Okay enough old fart talk.
I <3′s me some SD!
April 4, 2009I’m happy to be getting away from LA for the weekend!
San Diego is always a nice retreat from whatever is going on around here. =)
I loves me some SD!
Here We Go!
March 9, 2009Well I’m away from Los Angeles up in chilly Oakland for the Disney Annual Meeting. The project I’ve been working on for over a year is launching tomorrow. It seems like it has been forever getting to this day but now it’s finally here. Right now I’m watching a runthrough of the presentation and I got a little misty.
The meeting is in an old theater called the Paramount. It’s freezing (okay, like 50 degrees) in here and the bathroom has that weird granular soap like they had in elementary school. I found this sign in the bathroom really funny.
Burger Invasion
March 2, 2009Sitting here at the bus stop where my bus has just pulled away earlier than scheduled. Traffic ebbing and flowing in front of me as the traffic lights change. Cars routinely stopping.
Well, some idiot decided to throw his or her (I’m guessing his) HAMBURGER out of his window at me. It landed between my feet, sliding under the bench and leaving a ketchup skidmark on the sidewalk.
WTF???
I thought something fell from the tree above me, only to look down and notice that I’m surrounded by pieces of meat, bun, onion and pickle.
I’m a little saddened that I was almost struck by my namesake.
Oh well… The trials and tribulations of a public transit commuter.
